Tax season is fast approaching and this year FCFCU will be one of 102 credit unions in the State of Michigan offering the “Just File It!/I-CAN E-FILE program.  This free tax preparation, web-based software provides all families (no income limitation) access to Federal and State credits and refunds, including the Earned Income Tax Credit for low to moderate income earners. For the second year, those who qualify will be earning a State EITC. NEW this year … qualifying filers who use “Just File It!” will file for this State tax credit which will equal 20% of their Federal EITC for 2009.

Last year 5,425 Michigan filers used this free tax preparation program and received more than 10 million in tax refunds and credits.  First Community FCU ranked #2 in the State of Michigan for the number of visitors using the “Just File It!” program link from our website.  This service was used by 225 individual filers who received $368,275 in Federal refunds: $95,884 in earned income tax credit refunds; and $31,449 in child tax credits.   Last year this program helped refund a total of $65,349 to Michigan taxpayers.
